Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Plus WorldBike ("Plus WorldBike", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use the Plus WorldBike mobile application (the "App") and related services. We are the data controller for the personal data processed through the App.
By using the App you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. What data we collect
We collect only the data needed to run the App and its features.
1.1 Account & profile data
- Email address and password (or a Google / Apple sign-in identifier if you use social login).
- Display name, profile photo, home city and country, and an optional short "about" text.
- Your teams, followers/following and in‑app activity.
1.2 Location data precise · incl. background
- We collect precise GPS location to record your rides (route, distance, speed, elevation) and to power live ride weather and city/country leaderboards.
- With your explicit permission, location is also collected in the background / while the screen is off, so a ride keeps recording your full route when your phone is locked in your pocket. We only do this during an active ride you have started.
- You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings; ride tracking will then stop working.
1.3 Ride & fitness data
- Recorded routes, distance, speed, elevation, duration and timestamps of your rides.
- Your bikes and components ("garage"), service/maintenance entries and wear data you enter.
1.4 User‑generated content
- Photos you upload, team chat messages, comments and "props", and marketplace listings (bikes/gear for sale).
1.5 Technical & diagnostic data
- Device model, operating system version, app version, language and approximate region.
- Crash logs and diagnostic information (via Firebase Crashlytics) to fix bugs.
- A push‑notification token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send notifications you have enabled.
2. How we use your data
- Provide and operate the App: ride tracking, routes, teams & chat, leaderboards, garage, marketplace and weather.
- Credit your kilometres to your city/country and team for the leaderboards.
- Send notifications you have enabled (challenges, team activity, ride reminders).
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and verify app integrity (Firebase App Check / Play Integrity).
- Diagnose crashes and improve the App.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal basis (GDPR & Swiss FADP)
Our data controller is based in Switzerland, so we comply with the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). For users in the European Economic Area / UK, the GDPR also applies. We process personal data on these bases:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the features you request (account, ride tracking, teams, leaderboards).
- Consent — for background location, push notifications, and any optional analytics. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — security, abuse prevention, and improving the App.
- Legal obligation — where the law requires it.
4. How your data is shared
- With other users: your display name, photo, city/country, rides you share, team activity, leaderboard standing and marketplace listings are visible to other users as part of the social features. Do not post anything you want to keep private.
- Service providers (processors): we use Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, App Check) to host and run the App. Map tiles are served by our map provider, and weather data by a weather provider.
- Sign‑in providers: Google and Apple, if you choose social login.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third‑party advertising.
- We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights and users' safety.
5. International transfers
Our providers (e.g. Google Firebase) may process and store data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves Switzerland or the EEA/UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the Swiss addendum thereto.
6. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with the law, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. Backups are purged on a rolling basis.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location (and in full for EEA/UK users under the GDPR and for Swiss users under the FADP), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate data;
- Delete your account and data — you can do this in the App (Profile → Settings → Delete account) or by emailing us;
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Data portability;
- Withdraw consent at any time;
- Lodge a complaint with your data‑protection authority — the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or your local authority in the EEA/UK.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at plus.worldbike@gmail.com.
8. Children
The App is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry‑standard measures — including encryption in transit, authenticated access and Firebase security rules — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and review our practices regularly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated in the App.
